What are they like?
I love these headphones. They feel a real quality product and are presented in such lovely retail packaging, perfect for a gift. Having the look of something that would have cost 3 times the price. They come with an large range of fitting accessories and they feel so comfortable, you could wear them all day without even noticing. I particularly liked the line clamp which holds the microphone nearer to you for clearer audio on phone calls.
The cable; which lies around your neck looks durable and as for the earphone enclosures, they feel premium. The back of each is magnetic so you’ll never loose them as they’ll sit secured together around your neck. There Jet Black style looks good against anything, as they really stand out in the crowd. The Volume controls worked fine on my iPhone but failed to work on my FiiO X3, but this is common on most bluetooth headphones.
The Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest Group), released Bluetooth 4.1 as an incremental software update to Bluetooth 4.0 on 4 December 2013. This update incorporated the Bluetooth Core Specification Addenda (CSA 1, 2, 3 & 4) in this, new features were added that improve consumer usability. Including increased co-existence support for LTE and bulk data exchange rates.
Let’s also look at aptX. Qualcomm® aptX™ audio enhances the wireless sound quality of many of the world’s finest smartphones, speakers, soundbars, headphones and tablets. Now to the Sound Quality.
Well, i really put them through their paces. Using a Benchmark test and some of my favourite listening tracks. How did they perform, well let’s see.
Please Note:- I am 57 and peoples hearing change as they get older, so this is just the results that i found with my delicate ears. The Headphones were tested with flat equalisation. Tests performed using 24-bit/96kHz FLAC on a FiiO X3 2nd edition. with the SoundPEATS MK2 Bluetooth Adapror connected.
Frequency response stated:- 20Hz – 20kHz. I found heard frequencies of 20Hz – 11kHz
Spectral Flatness:- Did the Headphones perform with equal volume across a full Spectral frequency sweep. The sound was central across the spectrum.
Dynamic Range:- 72 dBFS (decibels below full scale).
Quality Test:- (Bass Shaker) The sweeping tone sounded pure and clear across all frequencies. It was without the parasitic buzzing or rattling, often heard in lower priced headphones.
Driver Matching:- (All frequencies swept from 10 Hz up to 10 kHz. at exactly the same sound levels in both earphones) The tone held it’s central position throughout.
Correctly wired:- (left plays on left and right on right) Yes perfect.
Polarity Preserved:- (wired in phase) The Headphones are wired in Phase.
Binaural Test:- (a knock to a wooden door, first right then left) The Knocks were beautifully clear.
Last but not least, listening to my favourite music. How does it sound? (Tracks used for this were as follows)
Izzy Bizu – Talking to you. Adele – Hello. Michael Jackson – She’s out of my life. 10cc – I’m not in love. Michael Jackson – Don’t stop ’til you get enough. A-ha -Hunting high and low. Gwen Guthrie – Ain’t nothin’ going on but the rent. Al Jarreau – Where in this love together. Iona – Here i stand. Patti Austin/Quincy Jones – “Betcha’ Wouldn’t Hurt Me”. Phil Collins – In the air tonight. Pink Floyd – Shine On You Crazy Diamond. Monique Miller – At last. Gino Vanilla – Black and Blue.
Was i impressed? Hell yes. These headphones are a real contender for my favourite Bluetooth Headphones under £30. They won’t fail to please anyone who gets them either for themselves or as a gift. they are defiantly worth my 5 out of 5
