Lets take a closer look.
The A/V Cable
The A/V Cable Looks well made. But it’s nothing special, much the same as any other A/V Cable. You have Right, Left and Video Phono’s at one end and a 3.5mm Jack at the other.
Tilt Lift bolts
Our Tilt Lift bolts are made from Zinc and measure about 25mm long. The heads of which have a gnarled ABS foot, this can be rotated for adjustment when these bolts are in use. They screw in under the front two rubber cushioned feet.
The Power Lead
The UK Power Lead measures 1.45 meters and consists of 3 cores of 0.75mm copper wire. At one end it’s terminated with a BS1363/A plug with a 10 Amp BS1362 Fuse fitted. At the other end we have a IEC 60320, C 13 Socket. This is perfect for this items requirements, However, mine was a little short for my needs and i had to replace it with a 2 meter lead.
The Instruction Booklet
The Instruction Booklet is written in very legible English. It consists of 20 pages including the front and back covers. There are quite a lot of Pictograms, Charts and Diagrams to go with the written text. As well as bring really helpful, it’s very explanatory and easy to follow.
Lens Cleaning Cloth
The Lens Cleaning Cloth is hardly worth a mention. It’s a thin black piece of lint free cloth about 100 mm square.
The IR RemoteControl
The IR Remote Control is full featured and very well laid out. On the top left we have the On/Off button, to the top right the Mute. Next down on the left F Fwd and ReWind and to their right the Fwd and Back Chapter buttons. Down left we have a Chanel up-down, to the right a Volume up-down and in between them a Play/Pause and Flip button. Now Down to the left the Source and right the Info, centre and down we have the up/down/left/right and enter buttons. Next left the Menu and right the Exit, then we have the numbers 0 – 9, a recall and a EPG button. It’s made of black ABS and takes 2 x AAA batteries. (Not included)
I think this is such a smart looking item, it’s all in black with a sliding door to keep the dust off the Lens, it also has a slide our dust filter fitted (this is located underneath the front edge, below the air intake vent). Measuring 40 x 26.5 x 14.5 cm it weighs in at just 2.2Kg. However, this is no shrinking violet, as there are 23 Languages built in for the menu. Our unit uses TFT/LCD Technology with an LED Lamp that produces 3200 Lumens whilst using just 150 Watts. The manufacturer claims it will last for 50,000 hours. (approximately 25 years, at 5 hours a day). Plus don’t forget you have a 3 year warranty.
Picture and Sound.
The Native Resolution, 1280 x 800 Pixels (1280 horizontal lines and 800 vertical lines) or (HD Ready 720p quality) is often referred to as WXGA (Wide eXtended Graphics Array). This gives the picture a crisp, clean to look to it. With it’s contrast ratio of 2000:1, i found that the default settings were well balanced and that no adjustment on my part was necessary. The fan noise is rated at 40db when near to it, but move away slightly and this reduces to around 25db. But to be honest, if you have volume on whilst watching a Movie then you’ll hardly notice it at all.
Now this Projector info says that it supports HD 1080p and that’s true, it can accept a signal with a picture resolution of 1920 x 1080p. But this signal will then have to be converted to 1280 x 800 (16:10) for output to the screen as this is the maximum number of pixels on the TFT/LCD Chip within our projector. Placed up to 5.5 meters away from our screen, you can achieve a 150 inch (Diagonal) image, which is bright enough to watch in a room during the day-time.
There are an array of differing sockets on the back of this device, 2 x HDMI ports, 2 x USB ports, a VGA port, Audio out port and an A/V port. You can connect a whole host of devices to it, including Smartphones or tablets (providing you have a Lightning to HDMI or Micro USB to HDMI Cable). or how about a Fire TV Stick, Chromecast, Set-Top-Box, PC, Mac, Laptops, Desktops, TV, TDT, DVD players, Blu-ray players, Stereo, Camera, Speaker, PS4, PS3, XBOX, Wii etc… Plus don’t forget theres also a built in speaker to listen to all that action and i found it pretty good too, or plug in your headphones.
Fitting and use?
I mounted my Artlii Projector to the wall in my lounge using a bracket bought from Amazon.co.uk. This was quite inexpensive at £13.90 and included everything needed to connect the Projector to the mount. Fitting to ceiling of wall required plugs and screws. Mounting points for the bracket to the Projector can be found beneath it’s rubber feet. Once fitted and adjusted to match your screen, you’ll never have to touch it again. I connected the projector, both to the power and my HDMI system. This provided pictures from my Fire TV, Virgin Box, WD TV Media Box (NAS Drives), Apple TV Box and Android TV Box. These are all done through an HDMI switch to combine them all into 1 feed.
Also i have an HDMI to Lightning Cable, which can connect my iPhone or iPad to the projector, as a result i was able to test this process and it works great. Furthermore, i also tried my new iMac on the Projector using the supplied VGA Cable and this adaptor, That worked great too. I couldn’t find anything to try out the A/V Cable, but the USB sockets worked well with my Micro SD Cards using this connector. My headphones connected to the audio out socket, worked surprisingly good too. For the video i used my WD TV to demonstrate Movies stored on my NAS Drives.
I am really impressed with this Artlii LED Home Cinema Projector. I have a 100 inch HD 720p image on my new pull down screen, with a quality of the like i’ve not seen in years on a budget projected image. Now i am noticing, things i hadn’t seen before. The colours are really bright and vivid too, but with a natural look at the same time. I can view my media through the day as well as on an evening. This is especially relevant for me with me not being very mobile due to illness. I was surprised at how loud the sound was able to go, it only having one speaker, . For the price i think this should be seen assigned to the upper end of the budget market. So it totally deserves the 5*’s i’m giving it.
